TROUBLESHOOTING LAB / SYNTHETIC

80 missing hop replies.
12 destination timeouts.
What do you escalate?

A five-minute test sends 200 probes from one affected source. Another source is unaffected. The local egress queue also records drops during that window.

What the record supports

The selected round-trip probe has 12 timeouts out of 200. Queue drops correlate with the window. Neither observation alone identifies the exclusive cause or the direction of loss.

A useful next request

Ask the responsible owner for matched application timing, queue measurements and direction-specific evidence during a comparable busy window. Preserve method, count and timezone. Do not request a repair to an unproven faulty intermediate hop.

Measurement references: RFC 7680 and RFC 6673.
